January 15 – February 7, 2026 – Montreal at Duran Gallery
With « Spirit of Ecastasy », Florent Stosskopf presents a recent body of paintings that extends his ingoing reflection on the relationship between space, affect, and perception.
The exhibition brings together figurative and landscape works in wich the intimate, the domestic, and the cultivated become sotes of contained emotional experience.
Rather than narrating scenes or imposing a fixed interpretation, Stosskopf construcs open images structured through color, frontal compositions, and the repetition of motifs.
Gardens, interiors, objects, and figures apparear as sensitive configurations in wich the viewer is invited to move slowly.
Each painting functions as an autonomous space, both familiar and subtly displaced.
The title « Spirit of Ecstasy » refers to a state of heightened awareness that is neither excessive nor spectacular. Its points instead to an intensified attention to the present, a suspension of ordinary time made percepttible through painting.
In this series, emotion is never illustrated directly. it emerges through the relationships between forms, colors, and the quiet intervals within the composition.
Presented at Durand Contemporain, the exhibition aligns with a program attentive to painterly practices that address contemporay subjectivity without relying on explicit narrative. « Spirit of Ecstasy » affirms paintings as a space of concentration and duration, where aesthetic experience unfolds through slowness and sustained observation.
